people asked me to talk about how it went, so i’m here to tell ya!
so the night before the procedure, i had to take medication that helped dilate my cervix. one i took orally and another i had to take vaginally (or basically shoving a pill as high up there as i could) this morning an hour before the procedure i took a pain killer as well as another one of the medication from the night before. these pills gave me a bit of cramping and bleeding a bit more heavily. (you get these procedure done while on your period.
once arriving at the gyno’s office, i stripped down at the waist and laid down. they inserted a speculum to open me up, clean my cervix and double check that i was the right size for the mirena. next i’m not really sure what they were doing the whole time because there was a fair amount of pain, i was still being held open with some kind of device. i just closed my eyes and clenched my fists. i remember they stuck something in (which i believe was to measure my uterus) and then stuck the IUD in. they talked me through it all and made sure i was okay.
i have a pretty high pain tolerance and this was survivable, but it hurt quite a bit. the doctor said i didn’t bleed very much and the procedure itself only took like 15 minutes tops.
after now i’m a little sore, but so far not really much cramps or extreme pain.
i’ll keep you guys posted on how i’m feeling later and if i’m getting any side effects!
